It's impossible to adequately describe the seismic effect this album had when it was first released. No one had previously put such a large orchestra in a studio to record such a unique musical genre. Be in no doubt of the musical artistry on display here. A storming rhythm section consisting of drummer Ed Greene, bassist Wilton Felder, Melvin (wah wah) Ragin on guitar and Gene Page's masterful arranging. Wilton Felder's outrageous bass licks over the fade is a masterclass all of its own. Timeless!
