An american friend who was then living in germany told me about this band. Without the internet in general I did only stand one chance to get a grip on that album: I needed to see my local import record store (you know, the one who sells records for the double price) to buy it for around 35 /then) german marks.
All that effort and money because it was either late 1986 or early 1987 and it was absolutely not sure that MCA Records would release the album in germany, too. As rap was known over here, but far from becoming a trend or scene or whatever.
A bit later in '87 MCA released it in Germany and it was for sale in the mainstream stores for, as you see on Schoni's cover, for roughly 22 marks.
You know, I did not care. I wanted that album. And I got it.
A few years earlier I got myself Whodini's "The haunted house of rock" on GREEN VINYL US VERSION(!) and payed like 50 marks for it. Yeah, the 12 inch. and Yeah, import. What else. 50 marks was horrible much for me being 15, but I needed that record. In comparison, the 50 marks back then were about as much as 200 euros today for me.
And I was sure, that thing will be worth much more over the years because, hey, G R E E N V I N Y L US! Guess what? A dude sells it over at CDandLP for 8 euros.
And? Have I ever regretted the purchase? Not in a single second, my friends!
